Dying Light Veteran Takes Helm at New Horror Studio

Tymon Smektala, who spent years guiding the Dying Light franchise, has signed on with Bloober Team to lead a freshly created division called Broken Mirror Games. He will serve as executive director of the imprint, which the Polish company established to focus entirely on horror projects.

Smektala's departure from Techland marks a notable shift for a developer closely tied to zombie survival games. At Bloober Team, he inherits a studio already known for psychological horror titles such as Layers of Fear and The Medium. The company has also worked on a remake of Silent Hill 2, a project that raised its profile among genre fans.

Broken Mirror Games will operate as a distinct label within the larger Bloober structure. According to the studio, the new imprint will develop original horror properties rather than sequels or spin-offs. Smektala said the role gives him a chance to build something from the ground up with a team that understands atmosphere and tension.

The appointment comes as Bloober Team continues to expand its portfolio. Industry observers note that hiring a figure with Smektala's track record signals serious ambitions for the imprint. No release dates or specific titles have been announced, though the studio expects to share details in the coming months.
