Nintendo held a new Direct showcase on Tuesday, highlighting a packed lineup of nearly 50 games set to arrive on the Switch in the coming months. The presentation, which ran for about 40 minutes, focused heavily on third-party titles and remasters rather than brand-new first-party blockbusters.
Among the biggest reveals was a surprise announcement for "Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream," a sequel to the quirky 2014 life simulation game. It is scheduled for a 2026 release. Another major highlight was "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond," which finally showed extended gameplay footage. The long-awaited title will launch in 2025.
Fans of classic RPGs got several treats. "Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake" was announced, following the previously revealed "Dragon Quest III" remake. The collection will launch in 2025. "Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma" also appeared, bringing a new action RPG entry to the series with a focus on Japanese mythology.
Several remasters were shown. "Soul Hackers 2" is getting a Switch port, while "Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics" will bring classic crossover fighters to the console. "The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky" is also being remade in full 3D.
Nintendo also highlighted smaller indie titles and shadow-dropped a few games. "Yakuza Kiwami" is now available on Switch, marking the first time a mainline Yakuza game has appeared on a Nintendo platform. "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" also launched immediately after the Direct.
The presentation ended with a look at "Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition," which will bring the open-world Wii U RPG to Switch with improved visuals and new story content in March 2025. While no new hardware was mentioned, the Direct reinforced that Nintendo still has a deep well of software planned before any successor console arrives.
