Amazon's cloud gaming service, Luna, is undergoing a significant strategic shift by discontinuing its third-party game channels. Effective immediately, the platform has stopped offering new individual game purchases and subscriptions from partners like Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and GOG.
This move means that games previously purchased or accessed through these specific channels will no longer be playable via Luna’s cloud streaming. The change impacts titles from the Ubisoft+ and EA Play catalogs that were available as separate subscriptions within Luna. Amazon has begun notifying affected customers directly, outlining the timeline for the service wind-down.
The company indicates this decision is part of a broader effort to refine its focus. Luna will now concentrate its resources on its core subscription offerings: the Luna+ channel and the growing selection of games available through a Prime membership. This streamlined approach suggests Amazon is consolidating its cloud gaming efforts around its own ecosystem and key partnerships, moving away from the multi-storefront model it initially tested. Current subscribers to the standalone service channels will have their memberships honored until the official shutdown dates, after which access will cease.
