Crimson Desert Still Ignores Its Most Glaring Flaw After Countless Patches

Crimson Desert Still Ignores Its Most Glaring Flaw After Countless Patches

Pearl Abyss has released update after update for Crimson Desert, smoothing out performance issues, tweaking combat balance, and squashing bugs that plagued the early access launch. Yet one persistent problem remains untouched, and the developer's silence on the matter is growing more puzzling with each patch note.

Players have long complained about the game's clunky inventory management system, which forces them to scroll through endless tabs and submenus just to swap gear or use consumables. The interface feels like it was designed for a console controller from a decade ago, with oversized icons and a confusing hierarchy that slows down what should be a quick action. In a game that prides itself on fluid combat and seamless exploration, this friction is jarring.

Beta testers flagged the issue months before release, and early reviews echoed the same frustration. Yet Pearl Abyss has instead focused on adding new quests, polishing cutscenes, and even reworking some boss fights. The inventory screen remains a cluttered mess, with no sign of a redesign on the horizon. Some players have resorted to third-party mods just to make the system bearable, a workaround that should not be necessary for a premium title.

The developer has not addressed the criticism directly, which only fuels speculation that a major overhaul is either too difficult or simply not a priority. Either way, the longer this goes unfixed, the more it undermines the otherwise impressive work done elsewhere. Crimson Desert has the bones of a great game, but a stubborn flaw like this can sour the whole experience.
